All the Needed Burraco Game Terms

The terms used in the game of Burraco are basically the same as the ones used in Canasta. This is because of the fact that the games are highly similar. Here is a short burraco game glossary that goes through the burraco terms that you will usually hear at a table while playing at online burraco as well as offline.

Base – 4 cards that have the same rank. A base is crucial in building canasta.

Canasta – One meld that contains a minimum of 7 cards of the same numeric value.

Concealed – When you do not meld anything and the opponent cannot know what cards you have you are concealed.

Going Out – Burraco term used to describe getting rid of the cards that you have. You can do this by melding them all or by discarding a card after melding all the rest. Going out brings in a bonus on your score sheet.

Going Out Concealed – The process of going out while being concealed. The term is opposed to Going Out Unconcealed.

Initial Meld – The first meld you make.

Mixed Canasta – A canasta that also includes wild-cards. A natural canasta is one that includes no wild-cards.

Natural – Any card that is not a wild-card is considered to be a natural card.

Wild Card – A card that can be used to replace any other card in a meld.

As you can see there are not many burraco terms that you need to remember. The rest of the ones that are used are identical to those of any card game out there. Any game of burraco will be played with the use of regular game cards that are shuffled prior to dealing. In most cases the dealer is one of the players involved in the game.

Make sure that you memorize all the burraco terms mentioned above so that you will never be surprised at a table. If you do not know them you do risk showing the others that you are a beginner. Such a move is bad because they will try to take you down as they label you as a weak opponent.
